Northwest Missouri State University is set to honor its donors on April 9 during the annual Thank a Donor Day event. This comes soon after a record-breaking performance in the university's annual Bearcat Day of Green fundraising campaign. The acknowledgment event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the J.W. Jones Student Union.

Thank a Donor Day is an opportunity for both students and university employees to understand how donor contributions benefit the university. The Northwest Foundation, the entity responsible for developing philanthropic resources for Northwest Missouri State University, plays a significant role in funding initiatives and scholarships. In 2024, the foundation provided 1,437 scholarship awards.

Recently, the Northwest Foundation completed its fifth annual Bearcat Day of Green on April 3. During this campaign, 820 donors contributed a total of $188,384 over 1,905 minutes—a figure symbolic of the university's founding year in 1905. This year's contributions represent a 70 percent increase from the previous year's $111,725.

“We are ecstatic by the collaborative efforts of our people in support of our place,” stated Mike Johnson, vice president of university advancement and executive director of the foundation. He credited Christian Dixon, the annual fund specialist, and the University Advancement team for their roles in the campaign's success.

The funds raised during the Bearcat Day of Green support various university initiatives, including academics, Bearcat athletics, scholarships, and student life.
