Northwest Missouri State University held its 15th annual awards event, honoring students, employees, and organizations for their exceptional contributions to the university community. Assistant Vice President of University Advancement, Jill Brown, served as the keynote speaker. During her address, Brown emphasized the importance of pausing to appreciate the efforts and achievements of the university's community, remarking, “I like the fact that we actually get to take the time to slow down for a day and honor and recognize so many worthy students, faculty and staff in a very meaningful way.”

Several nominations and awards were highlighted during the ceremony. Among them were students, such as Allison McCord for her analysis on "Woodrow Wilson in Siberia," and Olivia Gilliam, who explored "The Great War’s Greater Victim: A People Under an Ineffective Tsar." Additionally, Nora Crowley was recognized for examining the "Role of the ICRC in POW Camps."

Graduate Employee Eylül Oktay received acknowledgment for her dynamic role in library operations, as described by a nominator, “Eylül juggles many jobs, all of which require incredible attention to detail and are integral to the library’s functions.” Another notable honoree, Dr. Jesse Lane, was lauded for their impactful teaching style, as noted by a student, “Dr. Lane made me feel as an individual rather than a ‘S’ number or ‘919’ number.”

The ceremony also recognized organizations and their achievements. Sigma Kappa and the Student Activities Council were among those noted for their service and community engagement. Faculty and staff were also acknowledged for their efforts, including Dr. Susan Myllykangas and Michelle Allen, each known for their dedication and effectiveness. According to her nominator, Michelle Allen was cited for her focus on efficiency and ethical work, with additional commendation for handling unique challenges.

The awards reflect a breadth of dedication across various disciplines and community activities, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of Northwest Missouri State University.
