Northwest Missouri State University's Percussion Ensemble is set to perform its final spring concert on Wednesday, April 23. The event will take place at the Charles Johnson Theater within the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to all.
The ensemble will perform a selection of works, including Alejandro Viñao’s “Kahn Variations,” Ed Argenziano’s “Stinkin’ Garbage,” Ivan Trevino’s “Catching Shadows,” Mat Campbell’s “Electric Cathedral,” Michael Laurello’s “Spine,” and Owen Clayton Condon’s “Fractalia.” This concert will feature traditional percussion ensemble pieces along with performances by soloists, a quartet, and an electronic soloist.
Shelby Shelton, the conductor of the ensemble, emphasized the importance of audience support. “It’s important for the students to see that their hard work is being supported,” Shelton said. “So we love having an audience of people there to cheer on the kids, but I also think that it’ll leave people energized and excited about percussion.”
