Students at Northwest Missouri State University participated in elections to select representatives for the 103rd Student Senate for the academic year 2025-26.

Anna Tucker, a junior majoring in political science from Lawson, Missouri, was elected as the president. Tucker's previous roles on the Student Senate include serving as a freshman and sophomore class representative. She is also involved in several campus organizations. She is the president of the Northwest chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha honor society and director of traditions for the Student Activities Council. Additionally, she serves as vice president of the Golf Club, secretary for both the Mock Trial team and the Prelaw Society, and as a peer advisor for the University Seminar. Tucker is also a member of the President’s Student Advisory Council, Future Business Leaders of America, and The Navigators.

"Being elected to serve as Student Senate president is truly an honor, and I’m incredibly grateful for the trust my peers have placed in me," Tucker expressed. "I’m excited to step into this role and represent the voices of our student body. Over the next year, I hope to focus on building stronger connections between students and administration, improving transparency in student government and making sure all students feel heard — especially those who don’t always see themselves reflected in leadership spaces."

Tucker also stated, “I also want to work on practical initiatives that make everyday student life better, whether that’s improving campus resources, addressing affordability concerns, or creating more opportunities for student involvement. Most of all, I hope to lead in a way that invites collaboration, encourages new ideas and leaves our campus stronger than I found it.”

The Student Senate's executive board will also include Vice President Phillip Motazedi, a junior political science major from Joplin, Missouri; Secretary Abby Fisher, a senior biomedical science major from Ashland, Nebraska; and Treasurer Ava Sammons, a sophomore dietetics major from Ankeny, Iowa.

The results of the campus elections were announced at the Senate's meeting on April 1, and the new officers were sworn in during the meeting on April 22.

Student representatives elected to the Student Senate have been listed, with an asterisk indicating class presidents. Elections for freshman class representatives and other open seats will take place at the beginning of the 2025-26 academic year in September.

Meetings of the Student Senate are scheduled for 7 p.m. every Tuesday in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom during the fall and spring semesters. All students are welcome to attend.
