Northwest Missouri State University has announced the appointment of new department chairs for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. The changes will take effect on July 1.

Dr. Jamie Hooyman, Northwest’s provost and chief academic officer, expressed enthusiasm about the new appointments: “We are excited to begin the 2025-26 academic school year with a new academic structure. We have so much talent and leadership on this campus. The new structure will uplift that leadership while enhancing communication, gaining efficiencies and elevating interdisciplinary collaboration. I look forward to working with this talented group of leaders.”

The reorganization includes several colleges within the university:

- College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences

- College of Arts, Communication and Social Sciences

- College of Business, Mathematics and Technology

- College of Education, Health and Human Services

Lacy, Ludwig, and Ingraham are stepping into chair roles previously held by Barr, Blackford, and Wall due to their recent dean appointments.

Department chairs at Northwest Missouri State University are responsible for directing academic schools. Their duties include supervising faculty and staff as well as managing daily operations within their respective departments.

They ensure that academic programs meet high standards in terms of quality in research, faculty development, and student outcomes. Additionally, deans act as key representatives to donors, alumni, and the broader community.
