Theatre Northwest at Northwest Missouri State University is opening auditions for its 2025-26 season, inviting students from all majors to participate in Mainstage and student-directed Lab Series productions. The upcoming season will begin with “A Fall Evening of One-Acts” from September 18 to 20. The fall lineup also includes the annual First-Year Showcase, “They Promised Her the Moon,” scheduled for October 8 to 12, and “When We Were Young and Unafraid,” set for November 12 to 16.
Additional plays planned for the season include “A Blind Date” by Elliot Baker, “Down Came the Rain” by Burgess Clark, and “Pillow Talk” by Peter Tolan.
Only first-year and transfer students are eligible to audition for the First-Year Showcase. Students interested in auditioning can meet other theatre participants and receive information about signing up for audition times. They are encouraged to attend even if they cannot stay for the entire meeting.
Audition requirements include preparing two contrasting monologues, each one minute or less, with a total presentation time of two minutes. Students should also introduce themselves with a slate stating their name and the titles of their chosen monologues. Materials will be available for those who do not have prepared monologues.
Callbacks for "They Promised Her the Moon" will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m., followed by callbacks for "A Fall Evening of One Acts" from 8 to 9:30 p.m., where readings from scripts will be provided. Students will be notified via email if they receive a callback. Callbacks for "When We Were Young and Unafraid" are scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m., with script readings available during that time as well.
For further details about auditions, students can contact Associate Professor of Theatre Stephanie Jorandby.
