Dr. Lance Tatum, President | Northwest Missouri State University
Northwest Missouri State University will commemorate Dr. Dean L. Hubbard, the university’s ninth president, with a public celebration of life. The event will take place on April 4 at the Mary Linn Auditorium, located in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. Activities commence at 10:30 a.m., though guests can enter starting at 9:30 a.m. A slideshow will precede the main event at 10 a.m.
For those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the celebration will be available.
Following a private family luncheon, the broader public is invited to participate in a bell-ringing ceremony at 1:30 p.m. This will occur at the Bell of ’48, a significant campus landmark located south of the Administration Building. The bell is traditionally rung to celebrate Northwest events and to honor the passing of community members.
Attendees can park in campus lots 59, 60, and 62.
Dr. Hubbard, who served as Northwest’s longest-tenured president from 1984 to 2009, passed away on March 23 at the age of 85.
Instead of flowers, the Hubbard family suggests donations be directed to the Dean and Aleta Hubbard Scholarship at Northwest.
