Local families are invited to participate in a trick-or-treat event at Northwest Missouri State University’s residence halls on Tuesday, October 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. The tradition is organized by the university’s Residence Hall Association and aims to provide a safe environment for children and families during Halloween.
Families attending the event should start at either Hudson and Perrin Halls on University Drive or The Station on Northwest Drive. At these locations, participants will receive maps and lists of rooms taking part in the festivities.
Mike Miller, coordinator of leadership and development in the Office of Residential Life, said, “We believe that it offers a safe and friendly way for the community and our students to come together and share in the joy of Halloween. It also is a great chance for families to come on campus and see that our student population values getting to be a part of this community.”
Miller also noted the benefits for students: “Getting to see all the kids in their costumes brings a sense of connection for our students to Maryville. It also creates a sense of home because, while they aren’t with their families for this holiday, they get to experience the same type of fun that they would have had at home.”
Students who wish to participate must sign up at their residence hall’s front desk. They are encouraged to decorate their doors and rooms, wear costumes, and supply their own candy.
