Northwest Missouri State University’s Student Senate is set to host its annual fall blood drive on October 20 and 21. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in the Tower View Dining Room, located on the third floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union.

This year, the Student Senate is working with the American Red Cross to facilitate donations. Students, university employees, and members of the community are encouraged to participate by scheduling a 15-minute appointment online.

Participants in the blood drive will receive a $10 e-gift card and be entered into a $5,000 giveaway. Additional food items and giveaways will also be provided by the Student Senate.

“We encourage the Maryville community to join us in making a meaningful difference through our annual blood drive,” said Bri Lynch, sophomore political science major from Dallas Center, Iowa, and co-chair of civic service for Student Senate. “By participating, you’ll not only be supporting patients in need but also becoming part of Northwest’s Homecoming week – a time when we come together to celebrate our University, give back and show the true spirit of our community.”

Blood collected from donors helps various patients such as those recovering from cancer treatments, individuals injured in vehicle accidents requiring emergency surgery, and mothers who experience complications during childbirth. It is estimated that each unit donated can save up to three lives.

The university has organized blood drives for more than four decades and is recognized for its commitment to supporting regional healthcare needs.

For further details about participation or scheduling an appointment, interested individuals may contact the Student Senate Civic Service Committee at 660.562.1218.
