Northwest Missouri State University is set to host its spring art show alongside the Empty Cups fundraiser, both designed to showcase and support local student artists. The events will take place from April 24 to April 26.

The art show, featuring works by Northwest students, will offer pottery, ceramic items, and small edition prints. It is scheduled for April 25 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the foyer of the Fire Arts Building, south of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building. "It is a great way to support local student artists who are working hard to advance their creative practices,” said Veronica Watkins, a Northwest associate professor of art. Watkins highlighted the benefits for students to gain experience in marketing and promoting their art, while attendees have a chance to purchase affordable artworks and interact with the artists.

The Empty Cups fundraiser, hosted by Northwest’s Clay Club, will occur from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 24 and April 25 on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union. It invites the Northwest community to buy handmade ceramic cups, with part of the proceeds benefiting the Maryville Ministry Center.

Both events are accessible to the public. The Clay Club is a group for intermediate and advanced ceramics students, supporting various studio events and outside engagements, including field trips and symposia. The group also provides a platform for students to sell their work, helping to cover tuition and materials.

For additional information about Empty Cups or the art show and sale, interested individuals can contact Veronica Watkins.
