Northwest Missouri State University recently received a donation of $8,565 for its Pay It Forward Fund. The funds were presented by University President Dr. Lance Tatum and first lady Jill Tatum to representatives of the University's committee. The donation was raised through a lecture held on September 22 at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts, featuring Gerry Brooks.

Gerry Brooks, known for his humorous educational videos, drew a large audience during his presentation. The event was organized with the intent to support students facing financial difficulties. The Pay It Forward Fund assists students with costs related to textbooks, course supplies, medical needs, tuition, or emergency transportation.

Dr. Lance Tatum expressed that he and Jill Tatum believed the fund would have a significant impact by helping students in financial need: “Jill and I talked about it, and we thought the biggest impact this would have would be on this fund, so that students who find themselves in a little bit of financial trouble can seek out some help.”

For those interested in contributing further to the Pay It Forward Fund, inquiries can be directed to the Office of Student Affairs.
