Northwest Missouri State University has awarded the Luther C. (Luke) Skelton Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year to Angeline Parker, a freshman from Pickering, Missouri. Parker expressed gratitude for the financial support, stating, "The Skelton Scholarship has helped me immensely with my financial aid. Now I am less worried about how I am going to pay for college with only having a part-time job."

Parker is the daughter of Matt and Amber Parker. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in a full course load for the academic year, with preference given to those from North Nodaway High School in Hopkins and students pursuing teacher education.

The scholarship honors Luther “Luke” C. Skelton, who was a teacher, coach, and superintendent at Hopkins Public Schools from 1942 to 1950. Skelton was recognized for his ability to identify students' talents and needs and his dedication to their development into intelligent individuals.

For more information about the scholarship or making a tax-deductible gift to benefit the university, contact Northwest’s Office of University Advancement at 660.562.1248.
