Northwest Missouri State University, in collaboration with the National Weather Service and state agencies, is reminding the community to prepare for winter weather. This initiative coincides with Missouri Winter Weather Awareness Week, taking place from November 4 to November 8.

The University Police Department is leading efforts to raise awareness about winter safety through social media. They encourage individuals to familiarize themselves with potential hazards and safety protocols as the winter season approaches.

To keep the campus informed, Northwest utilizes its Bearcat Alert system for text messages and emails, alongside official social media accounts and the university website. During adverse weather conditions, while the campus may remain open, students and employees are advised to assess their own ability to travel safely.

The university offers several winter weather safety tips. For more detailed information on handling winter conditions, individuals are encouraged to contact the University Police Department or visit resources provided by the National Weather Service and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency.

For further advice on winter preparedness, including driving safely in icy conditions and preventing injuries during snow shoveling, additional resources are available online.
