Northwest Missouri State University is set to host its annual winter art show and sale alongside the Empty Cups fundraiser. The event will showcase various art pieces crafted by Northwest students, offering the community a chance to engage with local art.
The art show and sale are scheduled for Friday, December 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, December 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held in the foyer of the Fire Arts Building, south of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building. Veronica Watkins, an associate professor of art and advisor for Clay Club, emphasized the event's dual benefits: “The art sale is a great way for our students to connect with the community as a profession-based learning experience,” she said. “For the community, it is an opportunity to see what local art students are making and find one-of-a-kind artwork to take home or gift to others.”
In conjunction with this event, Northwest’s Clay Club will host its Empty Cups fundraiser on Thursday, December 5, and Friday, December 6. The fundraiser will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days at the J.W. Jones Student Union's second floor. Guests can purchase handmade pottery and ceramic items during this time. Half of these proceeds will benefit Maryville Ministry Center and Northwest’s Bearcat Food Pantry.
The Clay Club is dedicated to ceramics students at intermediate or advanced levels and supports various studio events at Northwest as well as off-campus activities like regional ceramics shows and artist studios visits.
Both events are open to all interested parties seeking unique artworks or wishing to support local causes through their purchases.
