Northwest Missouri State University is preparing to honor its latest group of graduates with two commencement ceremonies scheduled for Friday, December 13. The events will take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Bearcat Arena at the Lamkin Activity Center on the university's campus.
To ensure that family and friends who cannot attend in person can still participate, Northwest will provide a live online stream of each ceremony.
Approximately 1,800 students are expected to complete their degrees this fall. Of these, more than 500 will receive bachelor's degrees, while nearly 1,300 will earn master's or education specialist degrees.
"Commencement ceremonies at Northwest are such a joyous occasion to celebrate the academic successes of our students and the new journeys they are about to begin," said Dr. Lance Tatum, President of Northwest Missouri State University. "Our University community looks forward to hosting our graduates’ loved ones as we all reflect on the hard work and dedication that leads us to this point in our students’ lives."
Graduates participating in the ceremonies can collect their caps and gowns from the Student Recreation Center between December 9 and December 12 during specified hours. Caps and gowns will also be available one hour before each ceremony begins.
Additionally, Northwest is organizing a Grad Fest for graduating students on Thursday, December 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., also at the Student Recreation Center.
