Northwest Missouri State University is offering students various opportunities to connect with employers and secure internships through events such as Mock Interview Days and job fairs. The university's Career Services department also provides assistance with résumés, cover letters, job searches, networking tips, and interview preparation.

Travis Kline, the assistant director of Career Services, emphasized the importance of self-advocacy for students. "For anything career-related, we can help," he said. "The main thing that we do is teach students to advocate for themselves. It’s super important to learn to talk about what you’re good at, what you like to do and really play to your strengths."

Career Day will be held on Wednesday, February 26th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carl and Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse. This event allows students to network with various employers and graduate school representatives regarding internship and full-time employment opportunities.

Mock Interview Days provide students with the chance to practice their interview skills with real-world employers in 30-minute sessions. These sessions are tailored for specific academic majors.

Meet the Pros events offer panel discussions featuring Northwest alumni and professionals in various fields, enabling students to build connections.

A local job fair is scheduled for Thursday, March 27th from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hughes Fieldhouse. This event aims to assist Northwest students and community members in finding local part-time jobs or summer opportunities.

The Career Closet offers professional clothing free of charge to Northwest students.

Northwest emphasizes profession-based learning across its campus through student employment positions that help build professional skills.

According to university data, 93 percent of bachelor’s degree earners and 99 percent of master’s degree earners from Northwest secure employment or continue their education within six months post-graduation.
