Northwest Missouri State University has announced the promotion and tenure of 15 faculty members for the academic year 2025-26. The Board of Regents approved these applications on Thursday.
“It is an honor to recognize 15 of our faculty members who have been awarded promotions or promotions with tenure,” stated Northwest Provost Dr. Jamie Hooyman. “These appointments are evidence of their exceptional contributions to teaching, research and service. They are instrumental in advancing our University’s mission and fostering academic excellence. I could not be prouder of their accomplishments.”
The newly promoted faculty members span various academic disciplines, with their new ranks taking effect at the beginning of the next academic year.
To qualify for tenure and promotion, faculty must demonstrate sustained excellence in teaching, professional development, scholarship, creative activities, service, and student support. This process involves submitting a portfolio that documents achievements in these areas. Tenure ensures continued employment at the institution until resignation, retirement, or discharge.
Eligibility for applying for tenure and promotion to associate professor requires four years as an assistant professor at Northwest. Promotion to full professor necessitates a minimum of five years as an associate professor at the university. Instructors may apply for senior instructor status after serving six years in their current rank.
