Northwest Missouri State University is set to honor its graduating students during the spring commencement ceremonies in Bearcat Arena. The university has scheduled four ceremonies on May 2 and May 3, with sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, and at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The ceremonies will celebrate students completing their degrees in both the spring semester and summer session. Dr. Jamie Hooyman, Northwest’s provost and chief academic officer, remarked, “Northwest has always been an institution that focuses on student success, and we want to make sure our students achieve their goals and graduate.” She added, “We are so proud of our 2025 graduates and cannot wait to see their impact on our communities and world.”
This year, more than 1,400 students are expected to graduate from Northwest Missouri State University. Among them, approximately 700 will receive bachelor’s degrees, over 600 will earn master’s degrees, and at least 100 will obtain education specialist degrees.
Graduating students must apply for graduation through the university's system under Student Records. Upon approval by the Office of the Registrar or Graduate Office, they will receive information about participating in the commencement ceremony via email.
Caps and gowns can be picked up from April 28 through May 1 in the Student Recreation Center or one hour before each ceremony starts. Due to a large number of participants this year, tickets are required for all attendees; graduates may reserve up to eight tickets starting April 2.
For those unable to attend in person, Northwest provides a live online stream of each ceremony. The university encourages interaction through social media using #NWGrad.
