A new mobile application called HazAdapt is now available for the Northwest Missouri State University community. The app aims to help students, employees, and campus visitors be better prepared in case of emergencies.

HazAdapt offers step-by-step safety instructions for over 60 types of hazards, including severe weather events, fires, assaults, and active shooter situations. The app presents information organized by specific scenarios and is designed with clear actions that users can follow during a crisis.

The application connects directly to Northwest Missouri State University resources such as University Police and other campus support services. It provides quick access to emergency contacts, helpful links, and additional support. A built-in help button allows users to reach emergency contacts and hotlines even if cell service is unavailable.

“It’s a way for students and faculty and staff to prepare themselves for emergencies before the emergency,” said University Police Chief Amanda Cullin.

The University Police Department remains open around the clock to serve the campus community by maintaining safety and discouraging inappropriate behavior.
