Student media organizations at Northwest Missouri State University have been recognized as finalists for 28 College Media Association (CMA) Pinnacle Awards. The university's student yearbook, Tower, is a finalist for Yearbook of the Year for the fifth consecutive year. The campus television station, KNWT, has been named a finalist for Video Outlet of the Year, and KZLX radio is a finalist for Audio Outlet of the Year.
Northwest Missouri State also received 25 individual award nominations in addition to its three organizational category nominations. This achievement places the university at the top in its enrollment division nationally.
Steven Chappell, director of student media at Northwest, commented on this accomplishment: “We consistently finish in the top in the nation in the CMA Pinnacles, and we are usually the smallest school with the smallest media budget to do so. Our success is a testament to the strength of our faculty and the talent of students we are able to recruit to our program.”
The winners will be announced during MediaFest ’25, which takes place October 15-18 in Washington, D.C., as part of a national convention sponsored by several major journalism organizations.
