Northwest Missouri State University’s African Student Organization will present “A Taste of Africa,” a showcase and celebration of African culture, at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom.

Tickets are $10 and must be reserved before Monday, March 27, by visiting the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Student Engagement Center on the second floor of the J.W. Jones Student Union or by calling 660.562.1317.

The event, which is open to the public, will feature art, music, traditional African food and a fashion show. The menu will include Jollof rice, fried rice and Asaro.

“It is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the culture of countries in Africa as well as to increase diversity and multicultural awareness and appreciation,” Obioma Nwuba, the president of Northwest’s African Student Organization, said. “This event reminds African students of their culture, even though we are far from home. Domestic students get a taste or experience of continental Africa, its customs and its people.”
