Northwest Missouri State University is once again extending an invitation to its students, employees, alumni, and friends to partake in two summer baseball events. The university is sponsoring the Northwest Night at the St. Joseph Mustangs on Saturday, June 8, and MIAA Day with the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, July 21.
The Northwest Alumni Association is the point of contact for more information about these events. They can be reached at 660.562.1248 or via email.
Last year's Northwest Night at the St. Joseph Mustangs saw Bobby Bearcat join Northwest alumna Polly Havard as she sang the national anthem (Photo by Lauren Adams/Northwest Missouri State University). This tradition began in 2011 and this year's game will feature a match between the St. Joseph Mustangs and the Chillicothe Mudcats at Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The game will commence with a ceremonial first pitch followed by fireworks after the game. The Northwest Alumni Association has made available 400 free general admission tickets on a first-come, first-served basis on game day.
Fans can pick up their tickets along with other giveaway items from the Northwest Alumni Association tent outside the stadium between 5 and 7 p.m. Information about purchasing additional tickets is available online.
The St. Joseph Mustangs are part of the M.I.N.K Baseball League which comprises eight teams from Missouri and Iowa.
In addition to this event, fans can also join the Northwest Alumni Association at Kauffman Stadium to watch Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals take on the Chicago White Sox as part of their celebration. Tickets for this event are priced at $25 each with seats located in the upper deck on the left field side.
Ticket holders will receive a baseball cap featuring both Royals and Northwest logos upon entry through Gate A. Fans also have an opportunity to receive a Kansas City Royals cap bearing an MIAA school logo during MIAA Day at Kauffman Stadium.
Parking must be purchased in advance, with discounted parking available to Northwest alumni and friends when purchasing game tickets. All tickets are digital and will be emailed no later than one week before the July 21 game. The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, July 15.
The Northwest Alumni Association will have a table set up from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside Gate A, where alumni and friends can receive a free Northwest promotional item on their way into the stadium.
