Northwest Missouri State University will welcome veteran educator Gerry Brooks to its campus on Sunday, Sept. 22. Brooks, known for his humorous videos that have garnered a significant social media following, is a longtime friend of Northwest President Dr. Lance Tatum and first lady Jill Tatum.

The event will take place at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts, beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets are priced at $15 and will be available for purchase starting Friday, Aug. 30, through the university's website.

All proceeds from the event will support Northwest Missouri State University's financial assistance program for students. This initiative aims to provide resources to help students succeed financially, socially, and academically.

“Jill and I are so thrilled to welcome our friend, Gerry, to Northwest to share his passion for education and leading others,” President Tatum said. “Our Northwest community enjoyed engaging with him during our inauguration activities on campus last spring, and we look forward to hosting him again.”

Brooks has been an educator for 20 years, starting as a third-grade teacher in Palm Bay, Florida. He has also worked as an intervention specialist and administrator, including 12 years as an elementary principal. Currently residing in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Kelly, Brooks uses humorous videos to encourage teachers and administrators nationwide.

His book "Go See the Principal" outlines strategies for creating a positive workplace culture and successfully leading staff.
