Northwest Missouri State University has been recognized as the leading institution in Missouri for obtaining a bachelor's degree in agribusiness, according to a report by College Factual. The university also ranks second in the state for its programs in other related fields.

College Factual's rankings are based on objective data such as graduation rates and graduate earnings. The report highlights Northwest's 19-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio and a freshman retention rate of 76 percent.

Dr. Rod Barr, director of Northwest’s School of Agricultural Sciences, commented on the importance of providing students with data to aid their decision-making: “This provides some data for students to take a look at to help make decisions,” he said. “Anytime we can provide students with data – whether it’s from us or from external sources – to help them make decisions, that’s beneficial.”

Audrey Belfield, a sophomore majoring in agricultural business, chose Northwest for its welcoming environment and professional learning opportunities. She emphasized the value of small class sizes and personal connections with professors: “One of my favorite things about the ag business program is the connection that you are able to make with your professors,” she stated.

Belfield aims to become a loan officer after graduation and appreciates how her classes prepare her for future career challenges: “Throughout our classes at Northwest, we are not only learning information to help us with our future careers but also the skills it takes to be successful in the workforce,” she added.

The university offers various facilities including a horticulture complex equipped with advanced technology and R.T. Wright Farm which provides hands-on experiences managing livestock and crops. Additionally, networking opportunities with alumni enhance students' knowledge and professional skills.

Founded in 1905, Northwest Missouri State University is noted for its high retention rate and success in career placement. A significant percentage of graduates secure employment or continue their education shortly after completing their degrees.

“Northwest truly has so much to offer students,” Belfield concluded. “You can choose your own path and get involved in organizations that interest you."
