Northwest Missouri State University’s NPR affiliate, KXCV-KRNW, is organizing its sixth annual virtual 5KXCV-KRNW Run for Radio. The event will be held from April 12 to April 26, allowing participants to complete the run or walk at their convenience and location. Participants are encouraged to submit their times and photos to Hannah Staggs, KXCV-KRNW's membership development and events coordinator.

Registration for the event costs $25 per person or $15 for Northwest students. Those interested should register online by April 1 to receive an event shirt before the start date. Registration remains open until the last day of the event on April 26. Proceeds from the registration will support KXCV-KRNW programming.

A "packet pickup" event is scheduled for April 11 at the parking lot north of J.W. Jones Student Union, marking the beginning of the virtual run/walk. Medals will be awarded to top finishers, and all participants will be entered into a raffle for sponsor-provided prizes.

“It is an opportunity for listeners and the community to have fun and get outside if they choose or, at the very least, to be active for a little while,” said Staggs. “The sense of community or belonging that can come from participating and sharing results is a benefit as well.”

KXCV was established in 1971 as Missouri's first full-power public radio service, providing news and alternative music programming from Northwest's campus. Its sister station, KRNW, founded in 1993, broadcasts across northern Missouri. Both stations form part of the Bearcat Radio Network, which airs Northwest football and basketball games.

KXCV-KRNW content can also be accessed online via their website or through their Bearcat Public Media App.
