Northwest Missouri State University is preparing for its fifth annual Bearcat Day of Green, scheduled to take place from April 2-3. This event will dedicate 1,905 minutes to raising support for the university's mission of providing affordable and quality education.

The initiative aims to gather financial contributions from alumni, employees, students, parents, and friends. Christian Dixon, an annual giving specialist with Northwest’s Office of University Advancement, emphasized the event's purpose: “The Bearcat Day of Green is an effort to get Bearcats of all backgrounds to come together and encourage donations and gifts to the University to promote the longevity of Northwest.”

Supporters are encouraged to contribute towards programs they feel passionate about. “Whatever people are passionate about, that’s what they can make Bearcat Day of Green about,” Dixon stated.

The event seeks to surpass last year's donation total of over $100,000 by promoting "challenge gifts." Participants can donate between 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, and 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 3.

Donors have various options for their contributions including academic excellence, scholarships, athletics or specific initiatives related to student life. There is also an option for contributing to an unrestricted fund that addresses the university's most significant needs.

Contributions made during this period may unlock additional challenge gifts based on predetermined donation numbers or amounts. Progress throughout the campaign will be shared via social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
