Northwest Missouri State University’s National Public Radio affiliate, KXCV-KRNW, is organizing its fifth annual virtual 5KXCV-KRNW Run for Radio event from April 13 to April 27. The station is encouraging community members and listeners to participate in the fundraising initiative, which supports the station's programming.

According to Helen Konstantopoulos, KXCV-KRNW’s membership development and events coordinator, "We are super excited for our fifth Run for Radio. Our fundraiser is not only a means to fund some of our programming but also a way to promote healthy living. Every spring we encourage people to get outside and start exercising."

Konstantopoulos highlighted the inclusive nature of the event, stating, "Because it’s a virtual event, weather is not an issue, and you can participate from anywhere in the world. It’s so fun to see all the pictures on social media. We’ve had participation from all over, including Arizona, Oregon, Washington, D.C., Greece and Turkey."

Registration for the event is open until April 1, with a fee of $25 per person or $15 for Northwest students. Participants can register online to receive a shirt before the event, and registration will remain open through the final day of the 5K on April 27. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting programming on KXCV-KRNW.

Top finishers at the end of the event will receive medals and prizes, including gift certificates to Hy-Vee and A&G Restaurant. Additionally, all participants will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win other sponsor-provided prizes.

KXCV (90.5 FM) and KRNW (88.9) have been serving as NPR affiliates since 1971 and 1993, respectively, providing in-depth news and information to the region. The stations also offer online accessibility through their website and Bearcat Public Media App.

For those interested in supporting public radio through a membership or seeking more information about KXCV-KRNW, they can visit the station's website or call 660.562.1163.
